Washington Post - PPDA-supported research

“Chronic pain is surprisingly treatable - when patients focus on the brain.” This article features the groundbreaking results of two mindbody studies that the PPDA supported. The CU Boulder study showed that 66% of participants randomized to Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) were pain-free or nearly pain-free posttreatment. PRT was developed by PPDA Co-Founder Alan Gordon. Another study by Harvard-affiliated researchers showed that 64% of participants randomized to Psychophysiologic Symptom Relief Therapy (PSRT) were pain-free posttreatment. Oct 15, 2021.

NPR: Can You Reshape Your Brain’s Response to Pain?

NPR Morning Edition interviewed Mark Lumley, PhD about Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET), which was co-developed by Dr. Lumley and PPDA Co-Founder Dr. Howard Schubiner.

EAET was included in a report from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services titled "Pain Management Best Practices." According to the report, published May 9, 2019 "Research indicates that EAET has a positive impact on pain intensity, pain interference, and depressive symptoms."
